Ending 2022, Featured in The Star!

Fun fact: once upon a time, I wanted to be a journalist. As a teenager, I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to write for Teen Star, published weekly in The Kansas City Star.

Nearly 20 years later, I’m honored to be featured in The Star, alongside other local Black authors as we share our stories. This has been quite the journey for me and I’m grateful to continue to have these opportunities!

Kansas City-area children’s book authors discuss importance of children’s literacy

A few weeks before my book launch, I was interviewed by KSHB about the importance of children’s literacy, along with some other local, Black authors.

“I got into reading from a very early age,” Everett said. “I was the kid who would try to read in the dark and just have books on books on books.”

The Mari and Mommy Move It! Book Launch

On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, I officially became a published author. The road to publication has been nothing short of a journey, however, I am proud of this project.

To celebrate the release of the book, my publisher, LaunchCrate, hosted a virtual launch party. Rae Daniel, reporter and anchor for KSHB and one of the sweetest souls, served as host for the event. Of course, Mari, the inspiration behind the book, made a noteworthy and memorable apprearance.
